The story

France’s CEA research organisation and quantum startup Alice & Bob are partnering on software for hybrid quantum and supercomputing workflows, Reuters reported.

The practical future of quantum computing is likely to involve specialised processors working beside classical machines rather than replacing them. Software must decide which parts of a problem belong on each system and manage the movement of data between them.

The collaboration is therefore an infrastructure bet. Useful quantum advantage will require programming tools, error correction and access to mature high-performance computing—not only better qubits.
