Google has agreed to its largest carbon-removal purchase to date in a deal with Terradot centred on projects in Brazil, Reuters reported.

Terradot uses crushed rock to accelerate natural weathering processes that can remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The method is attractive because it may use existing agricultural and mining logistics, but measurement and permanence remain critical questions.

Large advance purchases can help suppliers build capacity and improve verification. The agreement will matter most if it produces transparent evidence that removal is additional, durable and scalable without creating new environmental costs.
